Vietnamese Voluntary Foundation (VIVO) and the Vietnamese American Roundtable (VAR) would like to invite you, your friends, and your family to the 2017 community picnic (potluck) for some food, fun and games! The picnic will be on August 13, 2017 from 10am-3pm at Kelley Park in San Jose.

The Picnic seeks to provide the community with an intimate and friendly way to learn more about the various organizations in our community

Join us other Vietnamese American community organization leaders, members, and families as we share delicious potluck items, community stories, and build friendships over a fun day in the sun

Your donations and sponsorship can help cover the rental space, games, prizes, first aid, food, drinks and utensils!

Any donation of $20 or more will get a free custom 2017 Community Picnic T-Shirt!

Picnic FAQ

–What time should I arrive?
10 am! Come on time to set up your dishes, meet people, and eat. Games and activities start at 10:30m, and our first BIG GAME will start at 11am.

–Where should I go?
Kelly Park! There is a section of the park named Manual Briar and that’s where our picnic will be. Parking will be $10. The first 20 cars to arrive will receive free parking (please look for our volunteers at the entrance)

–Where should I bring my potluck item?
Once you arrive, come and register at the check in table. Our staff and volunteers will assist you.

–What else should I bring?
Bring a picnic blanket, sun umbrella, and sun protection (hats, sunscreen lotion, etc…)

–What if I don’t belong to an organization, can I still come?
Yes! Everyone is welcome, feel free to bring your favorite dishes/drinks to share with everyone.

–I’m not Vietnamese American, can I still come?
Yes! Everyone is welcome, feel free to bring your favorite dishes/drinks to share with everyone.

–I RSVP’d on Facebook, do I need to do anything else?

–How much food should our organization bring?
There is no minimum and no maximum, each organization is encouraged to bring what they can to share.

–Is there going to be alcohol?
Wine and beer are permitted in the park, but we will not be providing any alcoholic drinks.

–What activities are planned for?
There will be watermelon and hot dog eating contests, and games like giant jenga, ping pong toss, ladder toss and more. There will also be BIG COMPETITION GAMES with PRIZES for the winning teams! No one is too old for these activities, so don’t be shy.
We will also having balloon animals for children.

–Will there be a grill?
The picnic site has several grills, but if you are bringing an item that needs to be grilled, please bring coal & have someone available to grill as we will be hosting the games and activities.
